AIR EMISSIONS (OUTSIDE)

The province is generally responsible for regulating air emissions to the outside environment. Does your facility have a stack or any outside venting of process emissions? For example, is there a local exhaust system that vents directly outside? If the answer is yes, air emissions regulations may affect your business.

PROVINCE-WIDE

A facility must obtain a license from the department for altering any Class I development in the Classes of Development Regulation - a photofinisher is considered a Class I development (manufacturing). (Environment Act, 10)

A license is required to construct, alter, operate or set into operation any Class I development. If the facility was in operation before 1988, however, and no modifications have been made since that affect outside air emissions, no license is required. (Environment Act, 10)
