Employee
When PPE is required, the employer must provide it and ensure that it is worn. (General Regulation 91-191, 38)
Employers must ensure that workers are trained in the use, and care of any PPE they are required to use. (General Regulation 91-191, 38)
An
employee must use the PPE in accordance with instruction and training provided,
test or inspect the equipment before each use, report any defective equipment,
and care for PPE properly while using it. (General Regulation 91-191,
38)
When an employee is exposed to a hazard that may irritate or injure the eyes or face, the employee shall wear PPE appropriate to the hazard and that conforms with CAN/CSA-Z94.3-92 Industrial Eye and Face Protectors.

When an employee is exposed to a hazard that may injure the head, the employee shall wear PPE appropriate to the hazard and that conforms with ANSI Z89.1-1997 American National Standard for Industrial Head Protection. (General Regulation 91-191, 40)
When an employee is exposed to a hazard that may injure the skin, the employee shall wear the following PPE as appropriate: protective gloves, protective boots, body covering, barrier cream, or other effective equipment. (General Regulation 91-191, 42-43)
When an employee is exposed to a hazard that may injure the foot, the employee shall wear PPE appropriate to the hazard and that conforms with CAN/CSA-Z195-Protective Footwear. (General Regulation 91-191, 41)
When an employer is required to provide respiratory protective equipment, the employer must develop and implement a written code of practice that complies with CSA Z94.4-93 Selection, Use and Care of Respirators. The JHSC must be consulted in developing the code.
The code must cover the selection, use, care, maintenance and fitting of equipment and be readily available to employees in the area where respiratory equipment may be used.
The employer must implement a training program for an employee who may have to use, issue, test or maintain equipment or supervise an employee who may have to use respiratory equipment. The training program must comply with clause 8 of the CSA standard. (General Regulation 91-191, 47)
