Any person who performs electrical work must be a registered electrical contractor or the employee of a registered electrical contractor, hold an installation or repair permit, and a category A electrical registration certificate. A category A electrical registration certificate is one that is unrestricted in terms of current, phase and voltage.
A person who is hired to supply and maintain highly specialized equipment such as computer systems, controls and instrumentation may perform maintenance and repair if he or she has been granted special permission by the Director to supply and maintain the equipment. (Electrical Regulations 117/94, 3)
