AIR EMISSIONS (OUTSIDE)

The province is generally responsible for regulating air emissions to the outside environment. In Nova Scotia, the Air Quality Regulations (95/294) address carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide and total suspended particulates. These regulations typically affect facilities that have pollution control devices on their manufacturing equipment or otherwise have a high natural gas usage.

For smaller operatiosn, generally no discharge permit is required unless there have been complaints against the facility.
