GENERAL DUTY CLAUSE

EMPLOYER GENERAL DUTY CLAUSE

In addition to the specific requirements in all other sections of the legislation, the Occupational Health and Safety Act places a general duty on employers to “take every precaution reasonable under the circumstances for the protection of a worker” and also places more specific duties on employers regarding the maintenance of equipment and the training/instruction and supervision of workers. Workers include contractors. (Occupational Health and Safety Act, 25)
