The province is responsible for regulating air emissions to the outside environment.
There is no requirement to obtain an air permit in order to discharge process emissions outside. There is a general prohibition, however, on emitting quantities of an air contaminant that may cause irreparable harm to the environment. (Air Emissions Regulation 1998/207, 6)
